WHAT WE

offer
AT U.H.M.A.C.

We want Union Hall to reflect our passion for bringing people together through creative, cultural experiences. Our community matters, and there shouldn’t be barriers for everyone to have the chance to pitch in and do their part to make sure it is diverse, thriving, and welcoming.
The arts and free enterprise are central to the core of culture. We can provide space for artisans and small business owners to gather, provide for themselves and their families, and make a greater impact locally through what they have to offer.

Union Hall offers a multitude of classes and our list continues to grow.

We currently host dance, guitar and voice lessons. We also provide English as a second language and Spanish classes.

Union Hall provides affordable studio office spaces for new or growing artists and or businesses. We love and encourage creative entreperneurship.

KANDACE MONSIVAIS

KANDACE MONSIVAIS

An entrepreneur and realtor whose multicultural family shapes her vision and values, Kandace Monsivais founded Union Hall in response to a need she saw in her community in Laurel, Mississippi. “We need collaboration. Artists and entrepreneurs from every background need a space where they can create, collaborate, and grow,” Kandace said. “My experience in real estate helped me find that space, and my family inspired me to make multiculturalism the focus of this project.”

Kandace has always been passionate about restoration and unity. After Hurricane Katrina damaged the Monsivaises’ first home, Kandace and her husband restored their own home and, subsequently, a series of other homes they bought and flipped. Eventually, Kandace became a real estate agent and founded Red Fox Realty in 2018. “Helping people find the right space is what drives me as a realtor,” Kandace said. “Ever since I first visited the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art on an elementary school field trip, I’ve been fascinated by the world of creatives. Now, through U.H.M.A.C., I can help give them the collaborative space they deserve.”

Kandace and her husband, Gilberto Sanchez Monsivais, who is from Mexico have four children, one of whom is from China. “My family teaches me so much about multiculturalism,” Kandace said. “If we can experience the artistic elements from a variety of cultures, we’ll realize we’re more alike than different. The world needs more of that, and I’m glad to be a part of it right here in Laurel.
